Big day for rappers and shoes

OK so it started with RBK's S. Carters so many years ago, which was followed by the RBK G6 (ie G-Unit), and the brand was reborn with a new persona, blah blah. Steve Stoute had removed the champagne bottle from his ass and was receiving props from marketing execs all over the world.

Then Lugz did a Birdman sneaker. Seriously, that happened. I'm not surprised if you missed it. Then there was the PR disaster that was 310 Motoring/Game's unfortunately named 'Hurricane' sneaker, which dropped only weeks before Katrina submerged New Orleans. Nelly of course had his RBK deal, which was hampered by RBK's attempted originality. While the S. Carter was a carbon copy of the Gucci loafer and the G6 plagiarized the Adidas Stan Smith, the RBK Durrty Collection unfortunately tried something new, which never works in the world of fashion.

This rap/sneaker thing has continued and has reached something of an apex today with three rapper-sneaker company collab stories in the news in one day. Dig it:

So ... Fila, K-Swiss and ... what does that say? Yums Shoes? Wtf is Yums Shoes? Anyway, Fila, K-Swiss and Yums Shoes. Cool. I guess all the relevant sneaker brands had something useful to do with their time today.

Lakers win

Fuck the shitty Spurs. Kobe wins. Bouncing back from a 20-point deficit 5 minutes into the third quarter, the Lakers' take game 1 from the shitty Spurs. Kobe scores 2 points in the first half, gets warmed up and drops 25 on em in the second half. 14 in the 4th quarter. What I'll remember is the way he turned a double team into an open shot at the top of the key without passing the ball, using a screen or nothin. Kobe wins.
